Introduction

Are you a bachelor student in Mechatronics, physics, or a related field? Do you have an affinity for doing research? Then this internship could be interesting for you!

Background information

Working as a Manufacturing and Equipment Engineer, your mission is to optimize the reliability, availability, serviceability, and cycle time of precision manufacturing equipment as it moves from the early development phase to operations at international customer sites. You make sure that all work instructions, diagnostics, tools, trainings and spare parts are available for the manufacturing and customer-support operational sectors.

Your assignment

During a buildup of a system in the factory, several procedures in a row (sequence) are executed. There are currently timings specified for each procedure (A-times). However, for several reasons we see differences in timings and procedures are taking longer (B-times). When this occurs, machines are getting delayed.

A deepdive in A and B-times in the factory is already done by the Industrial Architect. We know within NXE F&T where the major differences are. But a next step is needed. The following assignment is made:

  • Find the biggest A and B-time differences (Top 10) and study the procedure/action;
  • Go to the cleanroom during these Top 10 actions and see what is happening;
  • Look for small adaptions which can gain time (quick wins) during your investigation. What are improvements that we can implement right away?
  • Present Top 10 to the project with improvement proposals;
  • If an improvement is accepted and planned by the project, get involved in the design phase and implementation of the solution;
  • Present all the outcomes/report halfway and at the end of your internship.

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship you:

  • Are a Bachelor student in Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office applications;
  • Are able to do independent research;
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Dutch is a pre. This is a bachelor graduation or apprentice internship lasting 6 months for 4-5 days per week, starting as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.

ASML: Be part of progress
We make machines that make chips – the hearts of the devices that keep us informed, entertained and safe; that improve our quality of life and help to tackle the world’s toughest problems.

We build some of the most amazing machines that you will ever see, and the software to run them. Never satisfied, we measure our performance in units that begin with pico or nano.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students: Getting ready for real-world R&D
Pushing technology further is teamwork, and our R&D team is more than 5,500 people strong, with major sites on three continents. Dozens of diverse, interdisciplinary teams work in parallel to meet a challenging development schedule.

In such an environment, your colleagues may be sitting next door, or they could be thousands of kilometers away in a different country, or even working for a different company.

An internship at ASML is your opportunity to get to know this world of industrial-strength R&D and get a feel for that excites you most. Will you design a part of the machine, or make sure it gets built to the tightest possible specifications? Will you write software that drives the system to its best performance, or work side-by-side with the engineers of our customers in a fab, optimizing a system to the requirements of the customer?

How will you be part of progress?
