Role and responsibilities
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will design and realize the mechanical modules from concept to final function delivery of the ASML products within spec on time.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
The California base annual salary / hourly range for this role is currently $125,625 - $209,375. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and

Develop and document mechanical designs for electron beam inspection systems/subsystems from concept to completion and final release to manufacturing.
Create mechanical system/subsystem specifications to meet performance requirements.
Design and modify parts or large scale assemblies using Solidworks/NX.
Create detailed 2D drawings using Solidworks/NX to be used for the manufacture of assemblies and components.
Lead design reviews, error budget development, risk assessment and mitigation, design and execution of experiments, verification processes, validation processes.
Perform structural and thermal FEA.
Evaluate machine shop and vendor components.
Analyze/select materials and verify design accuracy.
Define test plans, perform testing and write test reports.
Transfer design to manufacturing providing necessary documents and trainings.
Work with outside vendors and consultants to develop, analyze and fabricate components and sub-assemblies.
Provide effective presentation and written evaluations to communicate concepts, designs, test results, etc.

Education and experience
PhD with at least 3 years of working experience in mechanical design or relevant experience
Masters with at least 7 years’ experience in mechanical design or relevant experience
Experience with 3D modeling & 2D detailed drawings using Solidworks/NX.
Experience in designing parts and assemblies for use in high and ultra high vacuum and in high voltage environment.
Knowledge with materials and material selection, manufacturing and cleaning processes used for making components for electron beam inspection systems.
Familiarity with mechanical designs for wafer transport and handling with less particle contaminations.
Ability to develop/conceptualize mechanical system/subsystems based on a set of requirements.
Ability to perform structural and thermal FEA using Solidworks/NX.
Have good working knowledge of vibration analysis.
Must be able to work with team members and with outside contractors, consultants, and machine shops.
Knowledge/hands-on experience with software/technical tools including Solidworks, NX, Teamcenter, etc.
Strong English communication skills – both written and oral, ability to influence, etc.
