Introduction to the job

ASML’s products are critical elements in the semiconductor manufacturing process. ‘System-of-systems’ level testing, also called cross-product testing or node testing, is a very important step in the development process of our products and ensures that all ASML products in a customer fabrication plant (customer fab) meet their specifications and reliably work together.

In the Holistic Digital Integration group, we develop an environment in which cross-product verification is performed using product simulations for customer-specific environments and use cases. We ensure that ASML's cross-product solutions can be verified digitally, i.e. without the need for hardware.As a member of the Holistic Digital Integration group, you ensure that the infrastructure & methodologies for this meet current and future demands.

Role and responsibilities

ASML products and node solutions have complex interdependencies that evolve over time. We believe that modeling and model-based testing can help us to more effectively verify and collaborate on the interdependencies in flow, data and configuration between different products and node solutions.

We want to:

  • Develop a modeling methodology for capturing variation in flow, data & configuration
  • Develop a methodology for applying model-based testing to these models
  • Provide requirements to backend infrastructure to enable this
  • Enable collaboration with domain experts on these

The Holistic Digital Integration group is part of the Cross Product Performance department within Development & Engineering. In the Cross Product Performance department, we ensure seamless integration of the EUV, DUV, and Application product portfolio in a customer’s High Volume Manufacturing environment.

To achieve the goals outlined above we collaborate with the Embedded Systems Institute (ESI) of TNO, an applied research center for the high-tech industry. This enables us to bring lessons from mature (computer science and software engineering) research fields, such as model-based testing, into practice. In your role, you will be a linking pin between ESI and ASML.

Education and experience

Master's degree, preferably PhD, in the field of computing science.

An engineer in the Holistic Digital Integration group should be competent in one or more of the following areas:

  • Modeling process control (using industry-standard methods & tools, e.g. BPMN), preferably in the context of the semiconductor domain
  • Formal methods for software engineering
  • Domain-driven design, behavior-driven/ test-driven development
  • Applying and reasoning on different abstraction levels
  • Programming and practical software engineering skills are a must
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with (holistic) lithography and experience with ASML products
  • (Preferred) Affinity with software testing techniques, e.g. ISTQB certification
