Introduction to the job

Do you have the drive to be the best engineer in the industry and have a “can do and will do” spirit? If so, then life as a CS Mechanical Install and Upgrade Engineer based in Bernin will enable you to put your talents to great use.

Within ASML, the Customer Support (CS) group is responsible for the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of ASML systems at customer locations. Within CS, the Upgrades, Install & Relocations (UIR) value stream prepares and executes complex upgrades and relocations, and supports installations on ASML systems. The value stream has a global setup with presence in a number of locations in the world. These activities run 24/7 in a customer production environment with a team of 4-40 engineers over a period of 1-13 weeks.

Role and responsibilities

Job Mission:

Managing and executing mechanical installation of DUV (XT – NXT) machines and complex field upgrades and activities, enabling the field teams to unlock the potential of ASML products for our customers.
Teamwork is key!

Executing upgrades, installations, and relocations of ASML Systems in various customer cleanrooms. The tasks are focused on hardware actions and machine recovery actions. The hardware actions (building parts in and out, de-installation, and installation of ASML systems) require special skills to handle sensitive parts.

Next to this you may be participating in projects to enable UIR value stream cost and efficiency roadmaps, as well as providing feedback on the sequence and the content of the procedures. In all situations your first priority is to be an ambassador for safety.

Job Description:

  • As an ASML UIR Engineer you will be an ASML ambassador at customer sites across Europe and occasionally outside of Europe.
  • Execute hardware installation and perform system setup for complex upgrade packages, Installs, Relocations, difficult field swaps, and lifetime extension packages.
  • Your “can-do, will-do” attitude will enable you - together with a team of ASML engineers - to overcome whatever obstacles get in your way.
  • Provide feedback to improve cycle time and performance, utilize the zero error repeat concept during upgrade preparations and executions, and perform post upgrade recovery and analysis.
  • You are expected to have a general knowledge of lithography machines.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems related to the (re) installation or upgrade hardware installation in close cooperation with a generalist and coordinator.
  • Maintain and improve personal UIR skills and general engineering knowledge to ensure the majority of the problems can be solved without escalation.
  • This position will require international travel (between 50 and 60%) to the field offices worldwide for UIR (mostly within Europe), support, and self-development training in the factory or other ASML locations.
