Introduction to the job
Do you see clear deadlines (delivery dates), introducing a new Extreme Ultra Violet (EUV) platform on a customer site, continuously improving install performance and quality as a challenge? Do you get energized by organizing for success on a new EUV platform to meet the performance according to our technology roadmap and customer expectations? Is managing performance and clearing of obstacles / issues to achieve that your cup of tea? Then you should apply for the position of EF Install System Owner EXE in our EUV Factory (EF), to join us in introducing and industrializing the EXE platform at our customers.
Role and responsibilities
Work closely with local Customer Support (CS) Project leaders, EXE Factory and the EXE program to deliver the EXE platform on our customer sites. Manage system install towards on-time quality delivery and at agreed cost by making the transition from a New Production Introduction (NPI) towards High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) in 5x iterations. Optimize machine planning by chasing problem owners, removing obstacles, optimize sequence, and escalate bottlenecks to appropriate stakeholders. Guarantee quality in way of working. Communicate status and planning to internal and external customers.
The mission will be to make EXE work towards making it sustainable, with the end goal to enable local install teams to be self-sufficient. This will entail that the role in time will evolve in next years, with the balance shifting away from escalation support towards Install performance management and Continuous Improvement.
Your tasks consist of three main activities across all installations at the customer site:
1. Manage team:
- Responsible for the well care of the team working onsite and in VHN supporting the EXE (pre-)installation, by ensuring a safe work environment and taking care of a healthy work/life balance.
- Contribute to performance (evaluation) of engineers and coordinators. Coaching of coordinators designated to the system to enhance their effectiveness.
2. Preparation phase:
- Ensure good work preparation is done before start of system install and different milestones covering the safety, quality and Cycle Time requirements.Subjects to be covered are availability of sequences, resources, materials and tooling, local wow, and (upgrade) plans and timings from ASML as well asrequirements for the customer (like facility readiness);
- Support the set-up of the EXE install organization, together with CS Install / EXE Factory / EXE program, to successfully perform (pre-)installations, taking safety / quality / cycle time and costs into account;
- Support the Hoshin Kanri breakthrough to bring a New Product Introduction (NPI) in 5x iterations towards High Volume Manufacturing (HVM);
- Ensure the way of working stays as close as possible to NXE installs and that sustainable processes are available to successfully execute (pre-)installs first time right;
- Define and maintain safety protocols and standard operating procedures during Installations
3. Execution phase:
- Operational planning:
- Provide and align project planning with pre-defined milestones to all relevant stakeholders;
- Ensure that delta work preparation package(s), delivered by the EXE program, are incorporated in the 6Ps and if applicable structurally embedded in the work preparation file and Integrated Install Plan (IIP);
- Convey key milestones to team members (ASML & 3rd party) and coordinate activities to achieve on-time
- Be the ambassador of the EUV Installation department.
- Provide and align project planning with pre-defined milestones to all relevant stakeholders;
- Customer interface:
- Assist in the communication to (internal and external) customer about system progress, planning and technical issues together with local CS install teams.
- Support the local US team in escalations towards the customer.

- Escalation management:
- Take the lead in escalations, and implement methods and actions that prevent them from recurring; Note: including resources from SIE & other departments and materials.
- Ensure that follow-up actions on reported issues and are on track by patterning with internal issue owners;
- Ensure that the Voice of the Customer is brought and represented in VHN.

- Continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback during and at the end of the installation that will enhance future installations, taking quality, costs and cycle time into account.
- Initiate and support improvement projects per 4C/8D methodology.

Education and experience
- At least bachelor in a technical degree with relevant experience. >3years
- Fair knowledge and understanding of ASML’s technically complex products and processes (production and or service) or familiar with installation business. Experience in managing complex projects with several milestones and stakeholders.
- Experience with Install or EUV is preferred.

- The sector NXE Manufacturing is responsible for the production of lithographic systems as well as for logistics. The complete production process of the most advanced machines takes place within this sector. Introduce, produce and deliver leading edge lithographic systems, related products and services in a continuously changing market, on time, against competitive cost, with quality exceeding customers’ expectations.
- The EF Install System Owner EXE will be part of the EF US/EU Regional Install department and will report to the EF Regional Install Manager. He or she manages machine progress, interfaces within EF system install department as well as outside and towards customer. Internal ASML interfaces, but outside department, are mainly different competences from First line support (FLS), Development & Engineering (D&E), Product Marketing, CS UIR PL’s and CS NPI local management.
- Function is based in VHN with the willingness to travel up to 30%, travel required is dependent on the phase of the Installation project. 4-6 times per year, typical trip will be one to two weeks.
