ASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or chips.

Multi e-Beam Inspection tools are part of ASML’s holistic lithography portfolio. ASML has an Electron Optical competence center in Delft, with multi-disciplinary teams, where we combine Research with Development & Engineering and deliver modules and system designs for the Multi e-Beam Inspection products.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced physicist who can join one of the teams focused on system design and electron optical simulations. Being able to start off with few requirements on a product roadmap or a coarse conceptual design, your team delivers solutions which enable system engineering to decide on a next generation tools or to other engineers to complete their detailed designs. These designs will be used in a production environment, so the manufacturability of your proposals, but also the applicability of the design in the field are important aspects to consider.


At ASML-Delft we focus on the development of electron-optical inspection tools. It is a cost-competitive market, demanding fast iterations and high quality. In this challenging environment we need you to:

- Translate requirements on a product roadmap to reliable system design or module design proposals and actively participate in design reviews and collaborate with experts in the field.
-Translate hardware and software requirements on a product roadmap to reliable module design proposals.
- Operate as a team-player in cross-functional teams.
- Bring forward efficient methods to analyze data from the complex electron optical system and translating them into new software upgrades, saving the customer valuable time.
- Interact with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Actively participate in design process and collaborate with experts in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics.
- Operate as a team-player in cross-functional teams.
- Deliver high quality documentation.

Education and experience

You have an MSc or PhD in applied physics or applied mathematics.

You have 0-3 years of relevant working experience.
You have experience with experimental setups, data analysis, simulations, and modeling.
You have broad physics knowledge.
You show excellent skills in technical writing, communication, and presentation techniques.

Within the D&E sector, our department is responsible for functions, modules, technical competences and qualification tools for inspection equipment, in particular multi-beam electron microscopes.
