The holder of this position will accurately manufacture and supply all ASML products in accordance with the established specification statements. Make improvements to existing products and processes, and guide the implementation of new products and processes. Responsible for ensuring quality and standardization while contributing to improvements in effectivity and efficiency.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, initiate the fabrication and shaping of precision optical geometries using 3/5 axis machining centers. Accountable for verification and accuracy of finished product, as well as support process and product development.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the set up and operation of 3/5-Axis CNC specialized optical machining centers.

  • Assembles cutting tools into tool-holders and positions tool-holders in machine spindles and/or tool changer magazines as required.

  • Generate part programs using Mastercam.

  • Manually program CNC controllers through manual data input, and/or load CAM generated CNC programs.

  • Manipulates machine controls to setup cutting tools and machine work pieces through CNC operation.

  • Ability to work safely on fragile high value optics.

  • Measures work-piece for conformance to specifications.

  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.

  • Make tool changes and offsets to keep part in spec and/or to compensate for tool wear.

  • Follows written English work instructions that describe the process and the required measurements.

  • Is able to read and interpret ISO blueprints and incorporate into part programs.

  • Familiarity with using the following measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages.

  • Verify settings by regularly measuring parts before and after changes are made.

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to supervisors and co-workers on other shifts.

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Candidate will be required to wear PPE where appropriate and embrace the ASML 5S requirements.

Education and experience

  • High School or trade school graduate or G.E.D., or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in multi-axis machines (3, 4 & 5-Axis CNC mills & machining centers), controls and tool-holding systems.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Mastercam and G-Code programming.

  • Intermediate mathematical skills including use of basic math, geometry and trigonometry.

  • Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Windows 10, MS Office & SAP.

  • Prior optical CNC fabrication experience is preferred.

  • Prior DMG, Hurco & Siemens control experience a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. 

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Can work under deadlines.

  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.

  • Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule – twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.  

  • This must include references to day and night shifts for accommodation purposes.
