Introduction

Are you a master student in mechatronics or mechanical engineering looking for a graduation project? Do you have a background in mechanical design and an affinity for sensors? Then this internship could be interesting for you!

Background information

Chips are produced in a series of etching and deposition steps. The pattern that is etched is typically created using an ASML machine. In order to create nanometer structures, the position and local height of the wafer has to be controlled accurately. Products are built up with multiple layers on a wafer, where the position of the layers with respect to each other is critical.

The stability and wear resistance of the wafer table, which supports the wafer, plays a crucial role in this. Properties like flatness and friction need to remain stable during the lifetime of the wafer table. The module you will do the concept study on is ensuring these properties are maintained during the wafer tables lifetime.

Your assignment

You will be working with the Wafer Table Mechanical & Industrialization group with the spotless project, which improves the lifetime of wafer tables. Spotless is an inline service action, comparable to polishing. Your assignment would be to come up with an implementation for adjustable normal load. This study will support the future for our product development. You will;

  • Gather the relevant requirements and collect knowledge from earlier studies;
  • Create concepts and make a proposal;
  • Work out the design details.

The main deliverables are a set of recommendations and an implementation proposal for your optimal concept.

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship you:

  • Are a Master student in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Have a background in Mechanical Design;
  • Have knowledge on metrology/measurement techniques
  • Have good communication skills in English both verbally and in writing;
  • Like to apply critical thinking to challenge and improve the status quo;

This is a Master graduation internship lasting 6 or more months, 5 days per week with a flexible start date.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.
