Introduction

Are you a Bachelor/Master student in the direction of Computer Science? Do you want to translate functional requirements and design into software designs? Then this internship could be interesting to you!

Background information

Within the Machine Control group, we are responsible for orchestrating and synchronizing all high-level behavioral actions. We have a large number of modules working in parallel in a large configuration space. Because of this, we use formal tools and languages (Coco, http://www.cocotec.io/) to design and implement state machines for our main software components.

Proper visualization of the overall state space is crucial for our teams to do design work or diagnose issues quickly. Sometimes this requires a birds-eye view of the system and at other times it requires a detailed view. Because of the size of these components and the various use cases, building such a visualizer brings a whole suite of challenges.

Your assignment

The aim of this project is to collect use cases from architects and designers and design the required visualization tools to support them in their daily work. In this assign you will:

  • Gather the needs of the architects and designers;
  • Build a visualizer to visualize the system at various detail levels;
  • Generate an indication of model complexity;
  • Preferably integrate the tool into Doxygen;
  • Closely interact with the team to iteratively create a tool that makes their life easier.

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this role, you:

  • Are a Bachelor or Master student in the direction of Computer Science;
  • Are experienced in Python and C / C++;
  • Are able to translate functional requirements and design into software designs;
  • Are a strong communicator with a 'can-do' mentality.

This is a Bachelor/Master graduation or apprentice internship, lasting at least 5 months for 5 days per week, starting February 2024.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.
