The Corporate Real Estate (CRE) organization is a centralized department that is responsible for CRE activities worldwide, serving more than 30,000 employees.

Role and responsibilities

As the Manager Asset Engineering you are responsible for the development & performance of the Technical Competence team within CRE Facilities & Maintenance.

The team consists of about 15 technical professionals, responsible for global competence development in their respective areas of expertise as well as being the functional owner of the technical facility, utility and plant systems in the Netherlands. As to ensure business continuity, reliability and availability, sustainability, security and asset safety. The team provides crucial inputs into the utility master plans and capital investment programs, collaborates with the maintenance organization and the project teams, is heavily involved in the definition of requirements and commissioning & acceptance activities related to projects.

The Manager Asset Engineering is responsible for resource planning and ensuring capacity to manage programs, commissioning and other activities within the boundaries of quality, time and cost. This requires technical knowledge, stakeholder management abilities, and entrepreneurial skills such as ownership, decision making, negotiating and perseverance.

You will report to the Head of CRE Facilities & Maintenance (F&M) and are part of the F&M management team.

Your tasks

Globally

• Ensure technical competence development in all relevant areas of expertise.

• Ensure that required expert knowledge is being made available where needed,  and playing a leading role in relevant communities of practice, which means sharing knowledge and collaborating with your colleagues from other regions.

• Ensuring the establishment of performance requirements, deriving strategies, policies, standards, and tooling. You are also responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Engineering and Design Guideline documents for relevant assets (systems) and ensuring applicability of the guidelines worldwide. 

• Responsible for planning, driving and supporting the implementation of new or changed standards, guidelines and tooling and supporting colleagues at sites in the translation of standards. 

In the Netherlands

• Being the functional owner of the technical facility, utility and plant systems.

• Definition of the performance requirements of relevant asset systems.

• Ensuring the performance of assets, managing the risks related to the assets, effective set-up of assets and an effective cost strategy, resulting in an optimal balance between costs, risk and performance, ensuring safety.

• Ensuring that the assets are reliable to minimize the risk to business disturbance or damage. 

• Conducting (feasibility) studies to optimize performance and capabilities of the assets, supported with analysis, calculations or expert advice and propose projects to upgrade or improve certain aspects of systems or assets in order to improve and meet (changing) requirements from the business, regulations, policies and deliver input for budget, projects and programs.

• Validate/review (concept) designs, test plans, test results for projects and participate in projects by defining user and technical requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Manage and delegate work to engineering consultancy companies and provide them with the correct requirements, statement of work and briefing to execute work. 

General

• For all activities involving the team, ensure alignment with our customer roadmaps and CRE strategy. Resource planning and ensuring capacity to manage programs, commissioning and other activities within the boundaries of quality, time and cost.

• Translate strategic themes and opportunities and threats into a vision for asset management for the medium and long term. Determine the strategic objectives and elaborate in a program plan with a roadmap.

• Explore market opportunities, innovations and consult the market or peer organizations to drive initiatives that support, enhance or elevate CRE F&M quality standards.

• Act as the end-responsible person in the role of steering committee, senior user, sponsor, quality assurance or project executive in order to give (strategic) directions to project teams.

• In alignment with CRE Business Partners, inform business stakeholders and CRE F&M teams about impact and progress of projects and programs and ensure coordination between activities.

• Derive a forward-looking plan and planning for business stakeholders in order to inform them about planned changes with (possible) impact on their operations.

• Contribute to strategic reporting and (feasibility) advice substantiated with solid business cases.

• Calculate business cases for change plans and cost estimates for impact considering balance between risks, performance and costs (TCO).

• Develop and manage OPEX and investment budget including outsourced/consultancy activities.

Education and experience

Education

• Completed master's degree in industrial engineering, process engineering, building services engineering, asset management or business administration.

Experience

• At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in a complex (industrial) environment.

• At least 5 years of experience in management role on strategic level.
