Introduction

Are you a master student in physics looking for a graduation project? Do you have an affinity for experimental physics? Then this internship could be interesting for you!

Background information

In the Delft office of ASML, we are developing a multi-beam electron microscope for in-line wafer inspection. A key module in this electron microscope is the electron source. The vacuum level that we need to achieve at our electron sources is extreme. Improving the vacuum level not only improves the performance but also the lifetime of the electron source.

Your assignment

You will be a member of one of our Agile Scrum teams, which is responsible for electron optics research. Within the team, you will be designing and doing research into an extreme high vacuum chamber environment. After the design you will be performing experiments and analysis on this chamber in different configurations. Analysis should include material outgassing analysis, pump efficiencies, residual gas analysis etc. culminating in a report with recommendations how to improve our systems.

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship you:

  • Are a Master student in (applied) Physics;

  • Have an affinity for experimental physics;

  • Have an analytical way of working;

  • Have a proactive mindset and good communication skills in English.

This internship is preferably conducted as a 9 months Master graduation thesis starting as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a university for the entire duration of the internship.

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work.
