China Legal Operations Manager

The China Legal Operations Manager directly supports the Head of Legal & Compliance China in executing all day-to-day operations and longer term operational and strategic projects.  The position will report into the Head of Legal & Compliance China and will have a dotted line to the Head of Legal Operations and Strategy in the Headquarter.  He/she will cooperate with the legal operations resources in the Headquarter and other regions to handle matters in China and at global level as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle regular routine businesses of the Legal & Compliance Department, including standard quotation/PO review and approval, contract database management, template management, legal entity management
  • In cooperation with the Head of Legal & Compliance China and the Head of Legal Operations and Strategy, prepare legal budget and monitor spend
  • Implement global strategy for the selection of law firms/lawyers (and other legal consultants) and the regular review of existing firms
  • Implement and manage deployment and maintenance of tooling and technology for matter management, contract management, knowledge management, compliance management and spend management
  • Provide data analysis to improve efficiency and drive performance / continuous improvement
  • Scale legal operations program to the China region, taking direct responsibility in defining and implementing legal operations capabilities both at regional and at global level
  • Organize and facilitate events for the China team and take part in those for the global Legal & Compliance Department

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years’ operations experience, preferably in a legal or compliance environment.
  • Excellent project management, change management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, team player, proactive.
  • Significant experience with implementing data analytics, metrics, and business processes for global legal department.
  • Results-oriented with a strong ability to execute on required deliverables and drive results.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence and autonomy.
  • Strong financial skills and a strong interest in technology.
  • Ability to closely partner with, influence and motivate highly specialized professionals (lawyers).
  • True team player.
  • Ability to influence and leverage relationships outside the Legal & Compliance Department; consensus building.
  • Attention to detail with excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities.
