Introduction
Are you studying Computer Science and do you like thinking outside of the box? Then this internship could be interesting for you!
Background Information
Besides Lithography machines, ASML also develops wafer inspection and metrology systems within the Applications Business Line. e.g., The Yieldstar products. These are using visible light and cameras to produce an image of the point of interest on the wafer.
Yieldstar is continuously striving to improve system design and keep up with the latest technological development. The Sensing NPI group introduces new products and looks ahead to search whether employing new ways of working are beneficial.
Your Assignment
This will be a continuation-internship for introduction of OPCUA (Open Platform Communication, Unified Architecture) in Yieldstar. OPCUA is used in Industry 4.0 environments and became quite mature.
Yieldstar (YS) can benefit from adopting OPCUA and hence an internship was done on it. As a result of the initial internship, we now have proof that it is feasible to use OPCUA, but there are open items to be investigated in another internship, such as:
- Using UA modeler to more extent when defining nodes;
- Finalization of the security model;
- Attach OPCUA to the current YS logging and enable debug-log-level switching;
- Define and perform pre- and post performance measurements;
- Define test-methodologies;
- Define releasing and upgrade methodologies and test-run these;
- Create a full design document and pitch OPCUA usage to the software architect community in Yieldstar
There are some bonus-items 'open-for-investigation' but it really depends on how the progress turns out. It really is an assignment where one could dive deep and bring in the personal touch.
This internship offers both technical and organizational challenges and will give the intern a very thorough view of how Yieldstar products are created and how the R&D around it is organized.
