Introduction to the job

ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of semiconductor-chip-making equipment. A majority of the world’s microchips receive their critical lithographic patterning in machines made by ASML. In addition, ASML produces metrology tools and advanced applications to analyze and optimize the performance of the customer production process.

At Business Line Applications, we develop the YieldStar, which is a metrology tool for advanced lithography control. Our goal is to improve the accuracy of performance metrics (such as overlay, focus, critical dimension) as measured on the end product of a fab process (wafers with chip structures).

Role and responsibilities

We are hiring a Data Design and Modeling Senior Engineer for our New Platform group to contribute to our transition towards a new platform by contributing to the modeling of our machine data for the purpose of performing data analytics on it. You will interact with multiple stakeholders from different departments to understand and make use of the existing way of working, IT infrastructure, and Digital platforms available in the organization.

You will join the New Platform software group, which is responsible for transitioning our YieldStar applications to a future-proof, scalable platform. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary scrum team and environment where you will interact with your peer software engineers, data scientists, data engineers and UX designers. You are expected to familiarize yourself with our current customer solutions, understand our complex metrology domain and support us in our transition journey.

Our Design engineers and Customer Support engineers should be able to quickly analyze data and derive useful insights from it, so as to improve the yield in our final solutions.

Our New Platform for metrology applications is designed around modern scalable architectures. It is expected to ease software development and deployment in a private cloud platform, allowing greater speed, frequent updates and handling increasing complexity.

You are the Data Design and Modeling Engineer for New Platform group. Your primary goal is to design, model, implement, and document data solutions of data-intensive applications that analyze and derive insights from machine data.

You collaborate with Software Engineers and Architects to recognize and help adopting best practices in data analysis and reporting (e.g., data integrity, testing, analysis, validation and documentation). You communicate and align our solutions and proposals with the Design and Software engineers in the various similar groups.

You model data to support ad-hoc and reporting data access workloads. You tune applications and queries performance to meet our customers’ specifications.

You follow the evolution of new data modeling and analysis technologies, consider them in the design of future architectures and drive forward their implementation.

  • > 3 years of experience in Software development for customer facing products
  • Hands-on experience with programing OO languages Java, Python or C#
  • Experience with coaching junior Data engineers/analysts
  • Knowledge of and experience using Cloud Platforms like Azure, Google Cloud or AWS
  • Knowledge of and experience using (ANSI) SQL and/or PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of and experience with database management systems, Data Warehouses and Big Data processing systems
