We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers-the world’s leading chipmakers-to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.
To secure future demand, EF Engineering within the EUV factory, centralized it’s improvement capability for their engineering processes. This “Process & Improvement” department consist out of business domain architects, project leads and process engineers. The aim is to enable short leadtimes (factory cycle time), high efficiency and short ‘time to market’ for Production by improving our engineering capabilities.
This Process Engineer position is the crucial subject matter expert in EUV Factory for these process improvements.
There are process engineer job openings on several domains, e.g. SPC process control, structural solve and prevent, diagnostics within disturbance management, Work preparation process with respect to Sequence and scheduling.
Role and responsibilities
Job Mission
In this role you are the expert of one or more processes in the EUV Factory. Together with the Business architects you investigate and formulate (future) business needs and co-create the envisioned target state. Based on these target states the business architects together with you and the project/ portfolio leads initiate improvements which will be led by either a Project lead or a product owner.
Job Description
Your role is to lead and execute (project) activities from a content point of view. In order to be successful in your job you need to make sure your expert knowledge stays up-to-date. To ensure that, you will think of ways of staying connected to relevant key-users throughout the company. You will pro-actively search for relevant knowledge and improvement potential within your domain(s). For this you regularly asses your processes amongst others.
A diverse set of activities can be requested depending on the type and phase of an improvement:
- Creating and/or providing input for business cases
- Providing WBS items for the project planning
- Gathering, providing and writing requirements / user stories
- Analyzing and documenting processes (as-is, to-be, gap, work instructions, etc)
- Analyzing of and reporting on process performance
- Defining, writing and maintaining standards and templates
- Ensure that processes adhere to standards and policies
- Ensuring that project progress is in line with the architectural target state
- Creating and give training / knowledge transfers
Next to projects also ad-hoc requests are expected. For this you are capable of doing a first intake and organize yourself to also ensure proper follow-up. This could mean that you will also lead short term improvement initiatives yourselves.
You are successful in your role when the organization recognizes you as the go-to-person for your domain(s).
Next to your core job and based on your own interest there are also opportunities in facilitating workshops (eg VSM, planning, Requirements gathering, process mapping, brainstorming) and development/maintenance of reporting / tools / sharepoint amongst others.
Education and experience
Education
Bachelor or Master
Certifications in Six sigma, project management, requirements engineering, Agile, Problem Solving, Lean Manufacturing are preferred
Experience
- Broad business knowledge preferably in manufacturing context.
- Preferably experience in project participation
- Preferably experience in problem solving
- Preferably some years ASML experience.
- Preferably Business / data analyst experience (eg spotfire, power BI, SP)

Context of the position
The sector Operations is responsible for the production of ASML systems. The EUV Factory (EF) produces the newest generation NXE and EXE wafer scanners. Within this EUV Factory, EF Engineering (EF-ENG) continuously adapts, optimizes and supports the production processes. With the growing size of factory and resulting engineering demand, and the growing need for processes improvements, a new team is created recently: EF-ENG-Process & Improvement. PE Production Engineering (competence engineers working on tech content), FLS (tech support) and TS (tech New Product Introduction support) are technical and operational focused roles in EFENG. The new P&I team has dedicated focus on processes and improvements.
This team consists of 2 groups:
- PA&PL, a group of business Process Architects and Project Leads
- Process Engineers, a group process experts (SME)
The Process Engineer reports to the GL of Process Engineering (~20 FTE), who reports to the manager P&I (30-40 FTE), who reports to the director ENG (~400 FTE) being an EF senior staff member.
