Mechanical Engineering Intern

Job Mission

An exciting summer intern opportunity to support the Cymer DUV Mechanical Engineering team. In this role you will be exposed to complex engineering systems and problems and will be asked to assist and support the MDEV team to develop the next generation of DUV laser systems

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

• Support the team with some mechanical design of sheet metal, machined, and molded parts.
• Create solid models and detail drawings for parts in Creo.
• Calculate and analyze mechanical tolerance stack ups.
• Conduct problem solving on mechanical fit and performance issues.

Education and Experience

• Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering or technical field degree.
• Some experience designing or working with mechanical parts (machined, sheet metal, molded) and mechanical assemblies.
• Some experience with CAD software packages (solid modeling and detailed drawings), Creo preferred.
• Awareness of GD&T and mechanical tolerance analysis and its fundamentals.
• Hands on fabrication of mechanical assemblies or mechanisms is a plus
• Some understanding and exposure to manufacturing equipment would be ideal (CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, etc.)

• This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA.  It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $17.00  -  $53.00. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
