Introduction – Job Mission

The Optics Engineering Group is responsible for the modules within the laser that control the laser wavelength and bandwidth, as well as the metrology that measures the laser performance.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

Internship Goals and Objectives:

·Develop polarization model of the crystal, calcium fluoride.

·Evaluate changes in the crystal under thermal and mechanical stresses

·Predict the effect of the stressed crystal on the polarization state of the laser beam

·Develop test plan to verify the model and design and build a test setup

·Perform experiments on crystals to validate the model.

·Create a test report to document the model and the experimental results

Education and Experience

·A graduate student majoring in Optics or Physics.

  • Experience using physics or optics modelling software required.
  • Experienced with polarized light and Jones matrices.
  • Hands on experience in optical experiment design and optical alignment preferred.
  • Knowledge of lasers and optical engineering principles, demonstrated creativity in solving complex optical system problems.
  • Possess strong ownership characteristics and commitment to achieving results on time
  • Have strong analysis, problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative
  • Have strong written and oral communicative skills.
