Introduction to the job

The EUV source team in San Diego operates in a fast-paced, uniquely innovative and challenging environment to create new-to-industry solutions with rapid production to support an aggressive commercialization plan for the EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) technology within ASML.
The Droplet Steering and Control function within the Droplet Generation Department is responsible for the development and engineering of the mechanics and control that steers the droplet stream to a precis location within the vacuum EUV source vessel to enable production of EUV light.The function is also responsible for the overall automation and control of the droplet generation process.

The complexity of the EUV source puts exciting and challenging demands on the Droplet Generation Project Lead who will be leading all phases of the droplet generation and steering control development and integration involving precision mechanism and metrology, high speed electronics, real-time embedded software, and sophisticated control algorithms and state management logic, all working under extremely challenging dynamic conditions to produce stable and reliable droplets.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

  • Lead a criticalDroplet Generation project to organize the tasks, schedule and budgetplanning; the team will consist of functional and competency architectsand engineers. The team’s goal will be to successfully design andintegrate a major controls subsystem for the EUV source.
  • Collaborate withthe functional manager and technical architect as a “3 in-a box team” todevelop project roadmaps, schedules, progress dashboards and riskassessments.
  • Coordinate theteam’s deliverables with outside projects and upper management to alignwith overall EUV program objectives. Assist in reporting and resolving allschedule, resource or competency impacts to help achieve the timelydeliverables of the team.
  • Deliver progressreports and presentations to upper management and internal / externalcustomers as a primary project spokesperson.
  • Ensurespecifications and designs documents are written, reviewed and deliveredto proper teams in a timely manner. This includes design specifications,operational procedures, and training materials.
  • Ensure theproject delivers according to PGP process and KD gates.
  • Assist ininteractions with key suppliers and out-sourcing development partners.
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills.

Education and experience

  • Requires Minimumof BS in EE, C Sci, Computer Engineering, Physics, ME, or other related engineering or sciencefields.
  • MS or Ph.D. in relevant field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years in technical development role plus 4 years in a project leadership or management.
  • Must havepractical experience with project planning and successful track record ofexecution.
  • Experience withlithographic systems, laser system, control system, and/or semiconductorcapital equipment is a plus.

Other information

TheCalifornia base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $130,500.00-$217,500.00. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment withmarket data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and anassessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate,including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education andexperience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative toother team members.
