Introduction to the job
Do you want to drive technology innovation and make the difference? Can you lead, coach and inspire
an agile release train of about 120 software and functional engineers? The Release Train Engineer (RTE)
ensures performance of the train and provides full transparency. The RTE has regular communication to
teams & stakeholders and ensure stakeholders are being managed and teams stay engaged.
Role and responsibilities
The Release Train Engineer is essential for delivering our deliverables in time. You'll be responsible for
building a performing train; for organizing the Agile release train ceremonies and for making sure that
the agreed upon deliverables are delivered timely and at the right quality. You'll reach this target by
coaching teams to optimize the development processes and by coaching and developing Scrum Masters.
You'll be working very closely with multiple stakeholders such as architects, product owners, line
managers, project managers and of course your team of Scrum masters and the teams they facilitate.
The Release Train Engineer is responsible to ensure that the Agile release train runs in the most optimal
way for fast and high quality value delivery. Some of the challenges you'll face in this role are: relentless
improvement of the ART, protecting that the agile release train stays on track with deliverables by
managing escalations and changing priorities, making sure the stakeholders are managed, ensuring
teams stay engaged and managing the cadence and facilitate rituals.
Education and experience
A MSc. degree in Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics
• Experience as an RTE
• Background in a complex technical (product development) environment
