ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment. Headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, ASML employs more than 14,000 people.
The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act (2010) and the United Kingdom (UK) Modern Slavery Act 2015, Chapter 30, Part 6, Provision 54 require companies to disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from any of their supply chains and in any part of their business. ASML is committed to ensuring that all levels of its supply chain comply with the highest international standards of fairness, sustainability and ethical conduct, including a strict prohibition on forced and involuntary labor and illegal trafficking in persons. Our Code of Conduct, which is based on the principles of respect for people and planet, operating with business and personal integrity, and the promotion of professional, honest and accountable behavior, can be found here: ASML Code of Conduct.
ASML is a member of the Electronics Industry Citizen Coalition (EICC), a coalition of the world’s leading electronics companies working together to improve efficiency and social, ethical, and environmental responsibility in the global supply chain. We base our corporate responsibility criteria on the EICC Code of Conduct, which among other things, condemns human trafficking and slavery. We also make efforts to cascade the requirements of the EICC in our supply chain. ASML’s major suppliers are expected to acknowledge the EICC Code of Conduct, and we audit our suppliers accordingly.
If suppliers fail to acknowledge the EICC Code of Conduct or fail to meet ASML’s underlying sustainability requirements, a non-conformance report will be defined and ASML will engage its supplier to address and close the non-conformance with appropriate priority. Audit frequency and scope varies between suppliers. In 2015, we conducted 37 supplier audits including a full assessment on sustainability. ASML’s Procurement Managers, who are directly responsible for supply chain management, receive EICC Code of Conduct compliance training, including training on how to assess and mitigate the risks thereof.A copy of ASML’s EICC Commitment Letter can be found here: EICC Commitment Letter
