Read about allowances and visa arrangements

Internship allowance

EU students receive a full-time monthly allowance depending on their education level:

  • Vocational (mbo) students – €400
  • Associate, Bachelor's and Master's – €600

International students with a non-EU nationality, enrolled at a university outside the Netherlands, receive €1100 monthly – this includes the housing coverage.

Housing coverage

As an EU student you’re eligible for a monthly housing allowance of €450 if you live 80 km away or more from our global headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and relocate to a new accommodation within a 30 km radius of ASML. In this case, you’ll need to find the accommodation yourself and present its r ental contract as proof.

Travel expense coverage

You are not eligible to claim your coverage if you're entitled to a student travel product that allows you to travel for free on weekdays. You are also ineligible if you have selected to use this product for free travel on weekends, since you can adjust this to allow for free weekday travel during your internship, or if you choose to temporarily stop this product during the internship.

ASML pays for public transport (second class), for travel between the home address and the work location.

Visa arrangements

If you live outside the European Union and aren’t studying in the Netherlands, we’ll help you arrange your visa and cover the associated costs. To qualify, your internship must last at least six months.

Internships application process

The selection process may differ slightly for each internship assignment but will generally follow these four phases.

1. Apply

Take your time to create a well-presented, relevant and clear CV and motivation letter that show why you want to work at ASML. You’ll get a confirmation email once we’ve received your application, and we’ll let you know the status of your application within two weeks.

2. HireVue video interview

The first selection phase is an online, pre-recorded interview. If you are selected for this phase, you’ll be invited to record your answers to a few pre-determined questions via the tool HireVue. We’re looking to learn more about the real you.

3. Interview

We’ll review your video within seven business days and if you’re chosen, you’ll be invited for an interview. An interview is a great opportunity for us to get to know you but also for you to get to know us and gain some insight into what it’s like to be part of ASML.

4. Job offer

A few days after the interview, we’ll inform you if you’ve been selected to start your internship at ASML.
