Do you want to acquire corporate experience in a high-tech company like ASML? Are you eager to work in a high-tech specialty fiber manufacturing facility with a multidisciplinary team of engineers? Light sources are critical to secure the performance of ASML’s optical sensors. ASML is developing and manufacturing special optical fibers that are essential to secure functionality of these light sources. We are seeking to strengthen our team with a technician for fiber drawing.
Role and responsibilities
As fiber drawing technician, you work in a clean room based, high-tech fiber manufacturing facility, where you assemble, draw, qualify, our specialized fibers. You participate in various stages of the fiber drawing process, starting from raw material characterization, preform assembly, drawing fibers, to their qualifications, and eventual shipping.
You signal improvements for production output and yield to the senior engineers and management. You demonstrate your craftmanship to contribute to the optimalisation and realization of the fiber material as end product.
Education and experience
You have a vocational education (Ausbildung) or B.Sc. degree in the technical areas of Fine Optics, Material Science or a similar technical field with 1-3 years relevant work experience. Candidates with a degree in other areas can also apply. Affinity towards fine mechanical work and craftsmanship with glass is essential. For the rest we are looking for someone:
Hands-on experience with optical fibers, specialty fibers or hollow-core fibers manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with qualification techniques e.g. SEM, optical microscopes, or optical transmission
Experience with quality control of raw materials.
Affinity with stock management, statistical/data analysis, and logistics to deliver the fibers to different locations.
Experience with maintenance or line-support in a production environment, would be advantageous.
Work in clean rooms areas and high-tech facilities

Other information
You report to a group leader. The primary location of work is in Erlangen, Germany. Occasional business trips to ASML headquarters in the Netherlands may be required. The position is temporary, limited to end 2026 (due to return from for a parental leave).
