Introduction

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification and the design of ASML products like the EUV scanner. The department for wafer tables and - clamps (WTC) is responsible for holding wafers in the specified position during wafer exposure in the machines. The positioning of the wafers on the tables and clamps must be accurate down to a nm level. Cleanliness plays a crucial role for the position of the wafers. Both the Surface Science Competence in the Tribology and Surface Science group and the Process & Cleanliness Control group define the requirements for contamination control as well as the contamination removal processes and their verification techniques.

Your assignment

For the cleaning of wafer tables and clamps at our customers we need to have a selection of liquids or solvents that can be used for specific contaminations. As part of the surface science competence you will conduct investigations to quantify the effectiveness of different cleaning agents for various types of contamination. You will be responsible for designing a test that can quantify the effectiveness of cleaning with a certain liquid and cleaning procedure. You will be executing the tests and performing the characterizations, and based on the results, write the documentation that can be used by engineers at our customers to clean wafer tables and clamps.

This is a Master internship for 40 hours a week and a minimum of 6 months, starting as of September 2025.
