Introduction

The Beam Measurement & Control (BMC) department ensures that Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) source laser beams hit all tin droplets optimally by accurately measuring and steering the source laser beams.

To reduce the effort and lead time of code deployment for peripheral drivers, the BMC department has developed a model-driven Code Generator to generate state-of-the-art C++ and Python code. A key aspect of the model and the code generator is separation of concerns to ensure maintainability and extensibility.

Your Assignment

You will realize design improvements to the existing peripheral Meta Model (MM) for the automatic generation of testing and production code in Python and C++. For this you will work with modern Model Driven Engineering (MDE) technology, applied to a world-leading ASML product.

The main tasks of this internship include:

  • Understanding new peripheral driver features;

  • Consequently, propose design extensions of the current MM - Domain Specific Language Design;

  • Implementing extension to the current Python-based code generator;

  • Implementing new templates for the automatic generation of code;

Your work will consist of DSL design, as well as implementing extensions to the code generator and templates.

Your profile

To be a match for this internship, you:

  • Are a final-year bachelor student or a master student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field looking for an apprenticeship or a graduation internship.

  • Have a solid understanding of software development principles and possess strong skills in at least two of the following programming languages: C++, Python, or Java.

  • Have experience with application development, object-oriented programming, and shell scripting.

  • Preferably have experience with Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and Eclipse EMF.

  • Are eager to learn and capable of taking ownership of your work and have strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

This is a final-year bachelor or master apprentice or graduation internship for a minimum duration of 6 months, for 4 to 5 days per week (at least 3 days onsite for full-time). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

  • You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;

  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
