Introduction to the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ESG Internal control specialst to join our team. Together with 2 ESG Internal control specialists, you will run and monitor the implementation of a compliant internal control framework and data accuracy processes for ESG information. You will make a real difference because it’s in your nature to pro-actively assess developments in the ESG risk landscape, to translate developments into risks and controls, to be embedded in business processes and to render pro-active advice on potential ESG internal control implications to business stakeholders. All with the goal of securing ESG reporting compliance in a dynamic global environment. This job is relatively new in the company and gives you the opportunity to develop this function..

Role and responsibilities

As this is an area which is developing rapidly, we are looking for someone who is able to adapt quickly and translate complex requirements in understandable language. You drive internal control in a dynamic and changing environment. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement an ESG internal control framework to ensure compliance with ESG Reporting requirements

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ESG controls and recommend improvements

  • Conduct regular ESG Reporting risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve our ESG Internal control framework and best practices.

  • Prepare and present ESG reports to senior management

  • Stay updated on ESG trends, ESG Reporting requirements, and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and translate these into the impact for the ESG internal control framework of ASML

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on ESG Reporting and IC policies and procedures

  • Participate in ESG projects that impact the ESG internal control framework

  • Maintenance of the sustainability reporting manual

  • Assisting with the external audit regarding ESG sustainability and internal control topics

  • Encouraging continuous improvement and embedding compliant reporting in ASML’s processes

Education & Experience

  • Master degree with completed RA or RO (or equivalent)

  • Sustainability / ESG education is a plus

  • Fluency in English

  • 9-12 years relevant experience in finance or auditing

  • Audit experience or internal control or internal audit experience in international environment

  • Knowledge of Internal control, COSO and Sarbanes-Oxley Act

  • Strong understanding of ESG principles, ESG reporting frameworks and requirements, such as ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), GHG (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) and Sustainalytics

  • Experience in conducting ESG reporting risk assessments and proven ability to develop and implement effective ESG controls
