Introduction

Within ASML, the Industrialization and Tooling Technology (ITT) department is responsible for providing safe and efficient Tooling and Procedures for all ASML products. The NXE Handling and Transport Technology team within the ITT department is responsible for the development of Lifting and Transport tools that enable our operators to build, install and service our Low-NA EUV systems in a safe manner. Our work instructions need to be compliant to international, ergonomic standards, which limits the loads which are allowed to be lifted manually, and results in the need for many specific lifting tools.

Your assignment

EXO-skeletons enable operators to perform manual and repetitive lifting actions up to 40 kg in a safe and ergonomic manner. An Active Exoskeleton actively adjusts the support depending on the operator's posture, it provides more supports when the operator tries to lift something, it contains a driver + battery to achieve this. The goal of your assignment will be to investigate the potential use cases of active exoskeletons for ASML.

As an intern you will:

  • Collect needs/requirements provided by our EUV Factory and EUV service organization to enable manual lifting with EXO-skeletons;

  • Check which international standard are applicable;

  • Contact potential suppliers with the help of sourcing and your internship mentor;

  • Document investigation/validation findings, lessons learned etc.

Key deliverables include:

  • Document requirements based on ASML needs and international standards;

  • Inventory of existing products/suppliers that could serve our requirements;

  • Document validation of selected active exoskeletons;

  • Document recommendations towards Exoskeleton suppliers in order to steer their future developments and product roadmap.

This is a bachelor/master apprentice internship (to gain work experience) or a bachelor graduation internship for a duration of minimum 5 months. The starting date is in September 2025.
