Press release - Veldhoven, the Netherlands, March 21, 2000
ASML has received ISO 9001:1994 standard certification. The certification formally demonstrates ASML's determination to excel in the worldwide marketing, design, sales, installation, product support and manufacturing of wafer steppers and scanners used in fabricating semiconductor devices and other microelectronic products. Recognized worldwide as the gauge of operational excellence, the certification is awarded to companies that meet the strict quality standards set forth by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The certification process is comprised of an extensive audit performed by KPMG that evaluated ASML's worldwide operations.
"This certification is a direct result of our company's commitment to excellence and efficiency," said Doug Dunn, president and CEO of ASML. "It is a validation of our ability to manufacture and deliver superior performance wafer steppers and scanners to our clients and to support them with the highest quality of service and care."
ISO 9001 is one of the ISO 9000 principles established by the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation representing more than 100 foreign countries that works to facilitate an international set of guidelines for quality management based on common criteria. ISO 9001 certification requires that a company establish written documentation for all processes affecting a product or service and show documented proof of compliance to auditors. Upon successful completion of ISO precedents, registration is granted by an independent third party organization, known as a registrar.
