Nico I. M. Hermans has decided to leave ASML

Press release - Veldhoven, the Netherlands, December 19, 2000

Nico I. M. Hermans, member of the Board of Management and executive vice president of Worldwide Customer Support, has decided to leave ASML as per April 1, 2001. He has decided to pursue other activities outside ASML, but has agreed to remain available as advisor to the Company. No successor has been appointed yet. Nico Hermans was one of the members of the founding management team of ASML and served ASML for 17 years. The Supervisory Board and the Board of Management of ASML are very grateful to Nico for his contribution to the success of ASML during his long career and wish him all the best for the future.
