Introduction
Within the Customer Support Applications Business Support (CS ABS) department in Veldhoven, you will join a team focused on keeping advanced lithography systems performing at their best in customer fabs worldwide. These systems run continuously, where small deviations in imaging can impact production quality. You will contribute to improving how deviations are detected, analyzed, and prioritized across many possible system components. This internship focuses on making diagnostics faster, more automated, and data-driven. Your work will help teams globally resolve issues more efficiently and improve customer outcomes.
Your assignment
In this internship, you will improve how imaging performance deviations are analyzed and translated into clear insights. You will help diagnose which system components, such as focus, dose, or illumination, are driving performance deviations by analyzing complex scanner data. Since more than 30 components can affect imaging, and their impact can vary significantly across different chip patterns, you will apply structured analysis to identify the most impactful and highest-priority contributors. You will collaborate with experts across various departments to understand current methods and identify improvements. Your main responsibilities will be:
Identify relevant system data required for imaging performance analysis
Develop automated approaches to extract and visualize key performance metrics
Convert metrics into meaningful imaging performance indicators using modeling techniques
Support the design of a scalable analysis tool for global use
This is a master’s internship (non-thesis) for a minimum of 5 months, a minimum of 3 days per week (~3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is August / September 2026.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:
Are a master’s student in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field
Have experience with data analysis and are comfortable working with complex datasets
Bring scripting experience in any language, ideally MATLAB, or are motivated to learn MATLAB
Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and the ability to handle complex problems
Communicate clearly using English, and collaborate effectively in an international environment
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
